An article of adjustable furniture 10 in which a seat 18 is movably mounted with respect to a base 16, a backrest 20 is movably mounted with respect to a seat and a headrest 130 is movably mounted with respect to a backrest. An actuator means (100, figure 6) includes a single actuator for co-ordinated movement of the adjustable backrest and headrest sections for selectively altering the configuration of the article of furniture. In an embodiment of the invention a linear extends and contracts and a roller (follower, 112, figure 6) fixed on a movable part of the actuator, travels along a slot (guide cam, 118, figure 6) the slot having a first linear section and a second linear section of a slightly different inclination, the headrest moves when the roller is in the first linear section and the backrest moves when the roller is in the second linear section. Movement of the actuator may be transmitted to the headrest via a connecting line 128. |
