A device and method characterised by operating a personal identification number (PIN) entry device to display text and enable or disable particular key responses according to whether or not the text is approved. In this context approved means text which is part of the standard pin entry system, as opposed to unapproved text which for example may be chosen by a store manager to get an answer to a feedback question in a single key press.
