[Class 52(ii)] The back 30, seat 32, top bars 36 and front bars 38 of a seat structure are pivotally connected to form a linkchain and can swing about pivots 34 on the supporting frame 20 under the restraint of a link 46 pivoted at one end to the seat frame and at the other to the top or front bar of the link-chain. A friction clamp 56 when tightened holds the linkage in adjusted position. The frame may be of the office-chair type with a vertical adjusting screw 28, and stops 52, 54 are provided to limit the range of adjustment of the seat structure. The backmay be extended and linked to a legrest 562, Fig. 5, and alternative pivot-holes 570 may be provided in conjunction with extensible links 546, 539, 568 in order that the shape of the linkage may be modified.
