[Class 135] A hinged valve, of the type in which the valve flap 6 is provided with a web 9 and lugs 8 co-operating respectively with a projection x and a pair of horns 7 integral with the seating 5, is actuated by a compound lever mechanism, whereby the valve may be opened to full flow or closed instantly. The actuating mechanism consists of a double-arm lever 15, pivotally mounted on the casing, and having one arm connected to a bell.crank lever 18 carrying a socket 21 adapted to receive a weighted extension arm 22. The other arm of the lever 15 is connected to the flap 6 by a lost-motion link 10, which permits the valve to seat freely. Specification 376,367 is referred to.
