System and method for pairing passengers and in-vehicle equipment

A system and method for pairing a passenger 229 having a mobile device 200 with a vehicle 199. The system includes vehicle and passenger location determining means such as GPS and wireless devices which communicate vehicle and mobile device locations to a link manager 420. The link manager matches the mobile location information with the closest matching vehicle location information received. The link manager may use time of day, location and address information to match passenger and vehicle along with a trip status of each which may include direction of travel, speed or known destination. The link manager may transmit pairing information as to what passenger or device is in what vehicle and the passenger may confirm the pairing. Passenger billing may be generated by the link manager.
