604,402. Charging batteries. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Nov. 19, 1945, No. 31055. Convention date, March 28, 1944. [Class 38 (iv)] Accumulators, particularly those of electric vehicles, are charged in two stages, firstly at constant current for a time determined by the state of discharge of the battery and then at constant voltage, at the voltage reached at the end of the first stage. Over-charging at constant current is prevented by a voltage relay which automatically terminates the first stage if the battery reaches the voltage of abundant gassing. |
