[Class 144 (i)] A railway wheel having a pneumatic tyre fitted to a standard rim has the guide-flange formed integrally with the wheel disc, the edge of the flange being spaced from the tyre by a gap which is of very small dimension and opens laterally towards the rail. In the form shown, the edge 2 of the flange is spaced from a ring 8A riveted to the extension 1 of the wheel disc by a noise-reducing and shock-absorbing cushion 3.
