Disclosed is a tappet assembly comprising a piston (2), a spring (3) enclosing the piston, a shoe (4) configured to accommodate a roller (5) and a roller clip (6). The roller clip comprises a piston holding portion, a spring supporting surface, a pair of extended portions of the spring supporting surface. The piston is attached to the piston holding portion (7) of the roller clip. The extended portions (9) of the spring supporting surface (8) are configured to act as a restricting element to prevent movement of the roller. The extended portions of the spring supporting surface comprise a bulged profile at its bottom end and axis of the bulged profile is in line with axis of the roller.
