PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert which can discharge chips stably while minimizing the thickness of the whole cutting insert and an attachment structure on the side of the cutting tool body for freely removable attachment of the cutting insert.SOLUTION: A double-side type cutting insert has an attachment hole 9 in the central part of an insert body 8 composed of a plate-like body, and a boss part 11 provided with an attachment surface 11a regulating the thickness of the insert body 8 is formed on both the front and back surface sides around the attachment hole 9. A cutting edge 12 is formed in a corner part of a polygon, and a cutting face 13 inclined in the thickness direction and recessed is formed between the cutting edge 12 and the attachment surface 11a. A protrusion part 14 protruding like a mountain from the attachment surface 11a to the front surface side is formed between the cutting surface 16 and the attachment surface 11a. On the surface of the protrusion part 14 on the side of the cutting edge 12, a guide surface 17 for guide of chips which continues with the cutting surface 13 and is inclined upward toward the inside is formed. |
