A laryngeal mask airway device (500), comprising an inflatable cuff (134), the cuff defining a central opening at least when inflated, the cuff (134) being insertable through a mouth of a patient to an inserted location within the patient, the cuff adapted to surround a glottic opening (2) of the patient when inflated and at the inserted location; and comprising an airway tube (510) extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the airway tube defining an internal airway passage, an anterior portion (510-f), a posterior portion (510-p), a left portion (510-left), and a right portion (510-right), the anterior portion being characterised by a thinner wall thickness than the left and right portions, the posterior portion being characterised by a thinner wall thickness than the left and right portions, a cross section of the airway tube having an outer perimeter, the outer perimeter including a curved section and a linear segment, the curved segment extending from a first point to a second point, a portion of the airway tube being characterised by an arched shape wherein the tube walls at the base of the arch are thicker than the tube wall at the top of the arch opposite the linear segment, the linear segment extending from the first point to the second point, the outer perimeter of the airway tube having a flattened portion. |
