PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor in which an element body part (solid electrolyte) of a detection element can be appropriately made an activated state when detecting a specific gas.SOLUTION: In an oxygen sensor, a front-end side internal detection part 27d of an internal electrode is disposed in an area more on the front side from a contact point 63 (contact position Cp) of a detection element 2 and is provided in a part where an activated state is easily achieved by heating by exhaust gas (measurement object gas). At least a part of a rear end-side internal detection part 27e is formed so as to be opposed to a heating part heating center Hc of a heating part 142 of a ceramic heater 3 in a circumferential direction of an element body part 24 and detection part circumferential-direction dimension of the rear-end internal detection part 27e is formed so as to be larger than a lead part circumferential-direction dimension of an internal lead part. The rear end-side internal detection part 27e includes a part which is formed from at least the contact position Cp (contact point 63) to the heating part heating center Hc of the heating part 142. |
