606,691. Building-slabs. MALTHOUSE, E. G. Oct. 29, 1945, No. 28504. [Class 87(i)] In a precast or prefabricated concrete flooring or roofing slab having a width several times greater than its thickness, and containing reinforcement appropriate to the load to be carried when it is supported by its ends resting in position on bearer walls or the like, the end portions of the undersurface of the slab that are to rest on the bearer walls are interrupted so as to provide each end with a multiplicity of solid projections forming bearing faces to take the weight of the slab and the applied load. The bearing faces are formed at the ends of the slabs 10, Fig. 1, by teeth 14; and between the teeth 14 the upper and lower surfaces 12, 13 comprise, respectively, a floor covering and a rendering suitable for a ceiling. Holes 18, provided for lifting bolts, may contain a metal or other tube and may be used for the passage of electric cables or other fittings. The slab may have a grooved side to receive grouting; and the teeth 14 may be grooved as described in Specification 573,233. In an alternative construction the bearing surfaces 23, Fig. 2, at one end of the slab are formed between shallow rccesses 22. Specification 584,165 also is referred to.
|
