PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video encoding method capable of generating a high accuracy prediction image without encoding the weight coefficient values, and to provide a video decoding method.SOLUTION: A video encoding method/video decoding method for generating a prediction image from a reference area and a first primary prediction image when dividing a frame composing an encoded video into a plurality of processing areas, and performing prediction encoding of each processing area includes a weighting coefficient setting step for setting the weighting coefficient for each pixel of second primary prediction image and first primary prediction image based on the reference area, on the basis of the reference prediction residue, i.e., a prediction residue when performing prediction encoding of the reference area, and a prediction image generation step for generating a prediction image from first primary prediction image and second primary prediction image on the basis of the weighting coefficients. |
