PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder which unfailingly separates a recording medium from an ink discharge surface of a recording head when a jam occurs, and to provide a recording medium separation method in the ink jet recorder.SOLUTION: Recording heads 31 to 34 provided with ink discharge surfaces 31A to 34A which discharge inks and a transfer unit 5 which transfers a recording medium with the recording medium facing the ink discharge surfaces 31A to 34A are relatively moved to be separated from each other. Further, a protruding member 36 disposed at a position facing a surface on the recording heads 31 to 34 side of the recording medium transferred by the transfer unit 5 and the recording heads 31 to 34 are relatively moved to change the state of the protruding member 36 so that the protruding member 36 protrudes relative to the ink discharge surfaces 31A to 34A from the recording heads 31 to 34 side toward the transfer unit 5 side. |
