A method and apparatus for identifying ambient signal data in a test signal data set (112, 220). The subset of data elements (120) comprises the data elements (120) with the amplitude values (124) greater than a first threshold value. The data elements (120) in the subset of data elements (120) are identified wherein a difference between the amplitude values (124) of adjacent data elements (120) in the cumulative amplitude distribution of data elements is greater than a second threshold value. |
