Disclosed is a side structure for a vehicle body, the side structure having: a side rail (11) and a pillar (13) which are provided at sides of door openings (17, 18); and trim members (21, 22) which are provided to the side rail (11) and the pillar (13). In the side structure (10), a pillar inner member (41) is provided to the side rail while the upper end (41a) of the pillar inner member (41) overlaps a joint (31) of the side rail (11), and this forms intersections (54, 55) at which rail flanges (34, 37) and pillar flanges (46, 47) cross. At the intersections, stepped sections (57, 62) are formed at the pillar flanges, and in the rail flanges (34, 37), recesses (58, 63) are formed at portions (34a, 37a) corresponding to the stepped sections (57, 62). |
