摘要 Turbine engine rotor shaft 28 comprises a portion (29 fig 1) thermally shielded from the environment of the rotor and a portion 31 thermally exposed to the environment of the rotor. The exposed portion comprises an outer periphery 36 with a plurality of irregularities 38, e.g. bumps 40 and/or cavities 56, which provide a heat exchange surface E2 greater than a heat exchange surface E1 associated with the periphery of a cylinder having the same determined average diameter D. Bumps 40 may be formed from elements (42 fig 2), which may be particles, deposited on a substrate adhering to the shaft 28. The particles may be sub-micron size ceramic particles may be sprayed onto the shaft 28 by means of suspension plasma spraying method or metal particles glued to a substrate (54 fig 2). The periphery 36 may comprise a circular or longitudinal groove. The periphery may comprise thread 60. The shaft 28 may be a low pressure shaft.
