An occupant protection system for a vehicle includes right and left vehicle seats; right and left inflators each mounted in a center-side side portion, as viewed in the vehicle width direction, of each of seat backs of the right and left vehicle seats; and right and left far-side airbags each mounted in the center-side side portion of each of the seat backs. The far-side airbag is partitioned into a front bag portion that protrudes toward a vehicle forward side of the side portion in an inflated and deployed state, and a rear bag portion located on a vehicle rearward side of the front bag portion. The rear bag portion is adapted to have an internal pressure higher than that of the front bag portion in the inflated and deployed state. The rear bag portion is adapted to be compressed between the seat backs when the vehicle seats approach each other. |
