In the production of ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen, a catalyst consisting of a mixture of nickel and magnesium is employed at a temperature not above 300 DEG C., e.g. at 270-300 DEG C. Reference is made to the use of pressures of 100 and 300 ats., and to a 75 per cent Mg-25 per cent Ni catalyst. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the use generally as catalysts of nitride- and hydride-forming catalysts, additionally specifying the metals sodium, potassium and palladium. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
