The present invention relates to an expansion joint apparatus, an installation method thereof, and a replacement method for a drain device thereof. The expansion joint apparatus, according to the present invention, comprises: a first expansion joint unit which is formed in a road; a second expansion joint unit which is formed in the edge of the road and has a second drain device coupling hole and second separable horizontal and vertical members; coupling members which couple the second horizontal and vertical members of the second expansion joint unit to each other; and a drain device which has a wire having a length longer than the total extension length of the first and second expansion joint units.
