PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system controller which controls an optical transmission system of good transmission quality with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A supervisory controller 10 acquires the number of transmission nodes and the transmission line information of an optical transmission system 1, and calculates an allowable optical transmission band and an optical SNR when receiving by an optical receiver based thereon. When setting transmission parameters including the transmission rate and the code rate of an error-correcting code, the transmission parameters are determined so as to reduce the transmission rate when the spectrum band of an optical signal exceeds the allowable optical transmission band, and to reduce the code rate when the error rate goes above a predetermined threshold due to a low optical SNR. The transmission parameters thus determined are transmitted to optical transmitters 30a, b, and optical receivers 40a, b, and the optical signal is transmitted and received using the transmission parameters. |
