[Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] Differential gearing having provision for an emergency drive, comprises worms 7, 10 driving combined worm- and bevel-wheels 5, 6 and 8, 9 respectively. The bevel-wheels 5, 8 mesh with a planet-wheel 4 which is carried by a rotatable nut member 2, held against axial movement by bearings 14, and having screw- and-nut connection with an axially movable rod 1. With the main worm 7 driving, the wheel 8, 9 is held stationary by the irreversibility of the worm and wheel gearing 9, 10, and similarly with the worm 10 driving, the wheel 4 and nut 2 revolving round the axis of the rod 1 to screw it axially.</p> |
