PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, for actualizing valve timing control to suitably enhance torque responsiveness in a transient state.SOLUTION: A control device includes: an intake VVT 32 which can change an intake valve timing. In such an accelerating state that an intake amount KL is being changed into a target intake amount KLref required for an internal combustion engine 10, the control device repetitively executes intake valve timing control once every predetermined time T to set the intake valve timing at an operation point Pwhere the intake amount KL is increased to a maximum value within a movable range Q from a current value P at a time when the predetermined time T passes, as a target intake valve timing. |
