PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately recognize a medium conveying state.SOLUTION: A coin output part of a coin input/output part includes a tip detection hole H1 and a rear detection hole H2 formed so that a non-detection state ST0, a tip detection state ST1, a both-detection state ST2, and a rear detection state ST3 can all be taken when coins CN are conveyed on an output conveyor belt 44. A change control unit periodically obtains detection signals indicating presence of coins CN in the tip detection hole H1 and the rear detection hole H2 by the tip detection part and the rear detection part, and determines a detection state for each detection period by referring to a detection table. Then, by referring to a detection state transition table, the movement state of the coins CN, such as movement in a front direction, a rear direction, or a stop, can be recognized, and the number of coins CN output from a coin output port can be highly accurately recognized. |
