The compressor to give compressed air, with a cooling unit (4a) to cool the compressed air, has a cooling structure (6) for the coolant flow with an inflow (5) and an outflow (7). A bypass, to prevent freezing, is a tube (9) which is permanently open between the inflow and outflow with a cross section to give a higher flow resistance at normal ambient temperatures.
