611,871. Protective cut-out arrangements. WIMSETT, S. J., and RECORD ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. May 11, 1946, No. 14295. Addition to 580,787. [Class 38 (v)] The earth-leakage device of the parent Specification is modified in that the pilot coil 5 connected between the frame-terminal 9 and earth 11, and the current coil 6 connected between terminal 9 and neutral 10, are mounted end-to-end to constitute a solenoid, the plunger of which bridges contacts 16 in the circuit of coil 6. If the resulting current is insufficient to blow the fuse and clear the fault, the heat generated in the coil 6 causes bimetal strips 12, 13 to make a short-circuit about the coil 6, the resulting decrease in impedance blowing the fuse. The coil 5 may be energized by voltages of 40 to attract the plunger, and by voltages of 20 to sound a buzzer. The Provisional Specification refers also to indicating a major fault visibly by a flag and audibly by a " noisy " armature. |
