A proxy device interconnects at least a first and a second communications network. Communication devices connected to either said communications network transmit advertisement messages including information about respective parameters of said communication devices and/or about respective functionalities implemented by said communication devices and/or respective services implemented by said communication devices. The proxy device: collects data from advertisement messages received by the proxy device from communication devices connected to either said communications network; stores the collected data in a caching unit; and, upon receiving a query about parameters of communication devices and/or functionalities implemented by communication devices and/or services implemented by communication devices, the proxy device: retrieves from the caching unit data corresponding to the received query; generates a response message including the retrieved data, wherein, when the retrieved data represent plural communication devices, the response message aggregates said retrieved data representing said plural communication devices. |
