PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the self-combustion of electrolyte for the purpose of improving a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery such as a lithium ion battery in safety.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; and an electrolyte. The electrolyte includes: a cyclic phosphorus compound (flame retardant) expressed by the formula (where R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently hydrogen, halogen, methyl or methyl halide); and a polymerization inhibitor added to the cyclic phosphorus compound for inhibiting a ring-opening polymerization. |
