[Class 74(ii)] The subject-matter described in this Specification is contained in Specification 613,838. Claim is made to a knitting machine of the superposed, co-axial cylinder, independent needle type, having sinkers associated with a cylinder and adapted to move radially of the cylinder, comprising means for moving sinkers inwardly soon enough and far enough to permit yarn to be drawn after such movement over their backs behind the nibs, means for again moving the said sinkers inwardly after the yarn is so drawn to cause the sinkers to act only upon the sinker loops in the sinker throats to cast off intermediate needle loops, and means for thereafter moving the said sinkers outwardly to cause the newly drawn sinker loops to pass from the backs to the throats of the said sinkers wherein the backs of the sinkers over which the yarn is drawn are each arranged to provide a drawing surface of definite height.
