[Class 3(ii)] Relates to a road traffic sign for defining traffic lanes of the kind comprising a reflector carrier 8 which normally protrudes. from a casing 1 embedded in the road surface but can be depressed into the casing against the action of a spring 10 by a vehicle wheel. According to the invention, at least one resilient washer 6 is arranged between the reflector carrier and the casing to wipe the reflectors during displacement of the carrier. As shown, the wiping means comprises three resilient washers 6 arranged in step formation to give less resistance to upward movement. The carrier 8 mounts eight reflectors equally spaced around its periphery, its upward movement is limited by abutting rims 4, 9, and rotation is prevented by an interengaging slot and pin 8a, 4a. The casing 1 has a removable base plate 7 and a rim 3 which rests on the road surface and which has projections arranged between adjacent reflectors to take the main vehicle weight.</p> |
