The present invention relates to preparation of a non-halogen-based flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) resin. Particularly, the present invention relates to a method for preparing a non-halogen-based FRPP resin, an FRPP resin prepared thereby, and a flame-retardant polymer resin composition comprising the same. According to the present invention, disclosed is a method for preparing a non-halogen-based FRPP resin to which a phosphorus-based flame retardant is covalently bound comprises the steps of: dissolving a polypropylene resin grafted with maleic anhydride into an organic solvent, and introducing a basic reaction catalyst thereto to convert the grafted maleic anhydride into succinic acid, thereby providing a succinic acid-functionalized polypropylene resin solution; and adding a radical reaction catalyst and a phosphorus-based flame retardant to the polypropylene resin solution to carry out radical addition, thereby providing a polypropylene resin to which the phosphorus-based flame retardant is bound via addition.
