617,249. Batteries. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Nov. 28, 1945, No. 32165. Convention date, July 19, 1941. [Class 53] An accumulator casing is made of cellular ebonite having a non-porous surface and closed non-communicating cells which may be filled with nitrogen. The upper edges of the casing and partitions are strengthened by a solid ebonite belt 1 and the walls and bottom may be moulded round a metal armouring. Compartments in the casing may contain individual cell units made of ebonite or plastic which may be glued to the compartments, or the casing of cellular ebonite may be moulded round the cell units. In order to distribute the weight of the accumulator plates evenly, the bottom of each cell is provided with an ebonite block 3 having projections 2 to support the plates. The block may be glued round its sides to the walls of the cell. The edges of the plates may be fixed to the walls of the container by means of melted pitch. |
