The purpose of the present invention is to provide an image processing device capable of displaying a wide scope image such as an omnidirectional (whole-sky) image or the likes in a good state always, an image processing method, an image playback device, an image playback method, and a program. A specific target (luminous point) in the wide scope image is identified (SA3) when the wide scope image in which a specific image area becomes a displaying target in playback is photographed. Position information for showing the position of the identified target in the wide scope image is obtained (SA4). The obtained information corresponds to the wide scope image and is outputted to a memory unit or the likes (SA5). A displaying target area is set by the position information corresponding to the wide scope image when the wide scope image is played. Therefore, an image which is a part of the wide scope image and has the specific target can be displayed regardless of a direction of a camera main body when the image is photographed. |
