摘要 Solutions of fruit juices, medicinal extracts &c. substantially free from alcohol are concentrated by distilling the juice under a high vacuum, freezing the liquid remaining after distillation substantially solid, gradually heating the frozen mass while maintaining the temperature below 32 DEG F., removing the concentrated solutions and adding to them the condensate from the distillation. Specifications 617,858, 617,859, and 617,860, [all in Group XIII], are referred to.ALSO:Solutions of fruit juices, medicinal extracts, &c substantially free from alcohol are concentrated by freezing the solution substantially solid and then gradually heating the frozen mass while maintaining the temperature below 32 DEG F. so that concentrated solutions pass downwardly through the ice formations and are removed. In the case of very dilute solutions sugar may be added to lower the freezing point. The fruit juice may be distilled under a high vacuum before freezing and the condensate added to the concentrated liquid obtained by the freezing. Insoluble matter recovered from the ice may be added to the concentrated juice. Specifications 617,858, 617,859 and 617,860 are referred to.
