617,847. Latches. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd., and SATCHWELL, F. J. Oct. 14, 1946. No. 30521. [Class 44] A door latch, particularly for vehicle doors, of the kind in which the spring loaded latch bolt is retracted by a member operable by inside and outside handles and also disengageable from the bolt by the inside handle to render the outside handle inoperative, comprises the combination of a supporting plate a formed with a cam slot k, a peg h<1> movable by the inside handle along the cam slot k and passing through a slot i' in the bolt retracting member d, and another peg h attached to the plate a and passing through another slot i in the bolt retracting member. The movable peg h' is carried by a link j operated by the inside handle, and movement of the link in one direction pulls back the member d and so retracts the bolf b by engaging the shoulder f, while movement in the other direction causes the peg h<1> to move down into the inclined part of the slot k and tilting the front of the member d downwardly so that the lug g thereon clears the shoulder f. The outside handle, which in the construction shown is movable about a vertical pivot, is arranged to operate the member d by contact with the front of the lug g. |
