Panels of microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers may be used for the detection of types (i.e. oestrogen receptor (ER) positive or negative), grades and stages of human breast cancer. A diagnostic kit comprising a miRNA chip for detection of the miRNAs is provided. In particular, down-regulation of miR-195*, miR-567, miR-29c*, miR-30e*, miR-30a* and/or miR29b-2, and/or upregulation of miR-135b and/or miR-767-5p is indicative of Grade 3 breast cancer. Further panels are disclosed for detection of ER+ve and ER-ve breast cancer, Grade 2 breast cancer, and stages I, II and III of Grades 2 and 3 breast cancer. Antisense molecules to miRNAs for use in therapy are also provided. |
