The device has liquid branching pipes (20, 21), and an inlet valve (2) arranged between a liquid input pipe (6) and a pump chamber (3). An outlet valve (4) is arranged between the pump chamber and a liquid outlet pipe (7), where input- and output valves are self-closable. The liquid branching pipes stand in liquid-connection with the liquid outlet pipe and/or the pump chamber. A branch-off valve is designed as a material deformation valve, and a liquid opening is released by material deformation of elastic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a pump device.
