PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving member detecting device capable of reducing influences of changes in a stretched posture of a moving member, as well as reducing influences of changes in a mounted posture of a solid-state imaging element, and capable of detecting a displacement amount of the moving member with high definition, and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a high-quality image with high accuracy.SOLUTION: The moving member detecting device includes a light source, a solid-state imaging element, an imaging optical system, image pattern acquiring means, and velocity calculating means. The solid-state imaging element is disposed to set a detection region including an end of the moving member. The moving member detecting device is provided with edge detecting means to detect the end of the moving member by computing an image pattern acquired by the image pattern acquiring means. |
