PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string-tying method which is adapted to tying of mouth-closing strings of a small bag by simplification of operation; and to provide a string-tying machine for performing the method which is simplified and reduced in size.SOLUTION: A string-tying machine for tying mouth-closing strings of a packing bag or the like includes: rotary chucks 2 and 3 each including a guide rod 4, a sleeve 5, a gripping claw 6 fixed to the front end of the guide rod 4, a table 7, a lift mechanism 8 for changing the height position of the table, movement mechanisms 9 and 10 for moving the table 7 in two axial directions perpendicular to each other in a horizontal plane, and a rotary drive mechanism 11 for rotating the guide rod 4 and the sleeve 5 in forward and reverse directions; and right and left auxiliary chucks 13 and 14 annexed to the right and left rotary chucks, respectively. The rotary chucks 2 and 3 grip mouth-closing strings I and II and perform primary tying and secondary tying while each gripping the strings alternately according to a prescribed procedure. |
