A power split transmission (1) comprising a first and a second power branch, a summing gear mechanism (9), wherein the second power branch is a mechanical transmission branch comprising a plurality of clutches (15A, 15B, 15C), each of which allowing to select a different transmission ratio of the second power branch. The transmission further comprises a control unit (13) programmed for detecting the rotation speed (N3, N11) of the primary power input (11) or of the final power output (3) and controlling the overall transmission ratio (N 3 /N 11 ) of the power split transmission (1) by coupling or uncoupling of the clutches (15A, 15B, 15C) depending on the variation over the time (”Var/ ”T) of such rotation speed (N3, N11). |
