[Classes 44 and 65 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] An operating mechanism for a vehicle swinging door comprises a cylinder and piston 5, 6 pivoted at 7, the piston rod 10 being pivoted at 9 to one extremity of a cranked arm 11, 13 pivoted at 12 to the vehicle sill member and slidingly engaged at 18 in a slot 17 provided in the bottom edge of the door 15. A pivoted keeper plate 45 of the door latch is actuated by a cylinder and piston arrangement 49 actuated concurrently with piston 5 by means of an electro-magnetically controlled valve 24 and pipes 23, 25, 50. Valve 24 may be controlled by two switches connected in series to prevent accidental opening of the door and one of: these switches may be incorporated in the speedometer to ensure that the door is opened only when the car is stationary. |
