Provided is an illumination device having a video projection function and being easier for users to use. The present invention comprises: an illumination unit that emits illumination light; a projection-type video display unit that emits video projection light that projects videos; and a sensor that emits operation detection light used for operation detection, said sensor being capable of detecting operations by an operation object in a range including the video projection area of the projection-type video display unit. The illumination light, the video projection light, and the emitted operation detection light each have different wavelength distribution properties. The sensor is configured such that the amount of light in the wavelength region for the light used for operation detection is the greatest out of the amounts of light for the illumination light, the video projection light and the emitted operation detection light.
