Provided is a solenoid exhibiting flat characteristics without an increase in the physical constitution (size) of the solenoid. The solenoid 1 is provided with: a mold coil 2 having a hole 5 at the center of a coil 3 wound a plurality of times; a solenoid body 3 including a case 10 covering the outer periphery of the mold coil 2, a movable plunger 12 inserted in the hole 5 at the center of the mold coil 2, and a magnetic suction portion 11 disposed in a direction toward which the plunger 12 is moved and suctioned by a magnetic force generated by the coil 3; a ring-shaped plate 6 disposed on the opposite side of the mold coil 2 from the solenoid body 3 and adjacent to the coil 3; and a sleeve 15 facing the magnetic suction portion 11 with the interposition of an air gap and supporting one side of a rod 13 connected to the plunger 12, wherein a magnetic circuit L is formed, said magnetic circuit L passing through the magnetic suction portion 11, the case 10, the sleeve 15, the plunger 12, and returning to the magnetic suction portion 11, characterized in that the plunger 12 has an outer edge extension portion 12a formed by an axial extension of an outer edge portion of the plunger. |
