The invention relates to a fabric (1) for manufacturing garments for fire protection, comprising two woven layers, namely an outer layer (2), made up mainly of threads (6, 7) of a first type, and an inner layer (3), made up mainly of threads (8) of a second type different from the first type, wherein the threads (6, 7) of the first type have resistance to degradation, caused by wear and washing, of the appearance properties thereof which is greater than that of the threads (8) of the second type, and the threads of the second type have mechanical tearing strength properties which are greater than those of the threads of the first type, characterised in that the inner layer (3) comprises threads (9) of a third type which are different from the threads (8) of the second type, the threads of the third type having a resistance to the degradation, caused by wear and washing, of the appearance properties thereof which is greater than that of the threads (8) of the second type, said threads (9) of the third type also working with the outer surface in order to ensure the binding of the two layers (2, 3), and in that the number of threads per centimetre arranged in the warp and/or weft of the first layer is greater than the number of threads per centimetre arranged in the warp and/or weft of the second layer. |
