PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vibrations of a rotary electric machine in a circular vibration mode.SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine comprises a cylindrical stator 10 and a rotor 50 that is rotationally supported within the stator 10. Outside of the stator 10, damping weights 11 and 12 of a first group and a second group are fixed at a plurality of positions of which the circumferential positions are different from each other. If there are a plurality of damping weights 11 and 12 in each of the groups, the damping weights 11 and 12 of the group are disposed while being spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction just at an angle approximate to an interval of mutually neighboring bodies in the circumferential direction or just at an open angle obtained by adding an angle of an integer multiple of the interval between the bodies to that angle. The damping weights 11 of the first group and the damping weights 12 of the second group are disposed while being spaced from each other in the circumferential direction just at an angle approximate to an interval between a body and a joint which are neighboring to each other, or just at an open angle obtained by adding an angle of an integer multiple of the interval between the bodies to that angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
