The invention relates to a method for producing a metal case (10) for a pyrotechnic igniter (1) having a wall (12) comprising at least one weak area (15) and a surface (121) on the inside of the case (10) that has at least one portion facing said at least one weak area (15), the production method including the steps of: positioning the case (10) on a die (20) having a planar area (21), striking the wall (12) using at least one punch (30) so as to, in the same striking movement: deform at least the portion of the inner surface (121) that faces said at least one weak area (15) and includes at least one area that is initially inwardly curved, in order to move said surface onto said planar area, thus forming a planar inner surface (122), and forming said at least one weak area (15).
