The invention relates to a device (10) for manually compacting waste contained in a container (20), comprising: - a frame (11) comprising a support plate (12) that is intended to be positioned and/or fastened to the ground, and two lateral uprights (13a, 13b), a left-hand lateral upright (13a) and a right-hand lateral upright (13b), respectively, that are secured to said support plate (12) and extend perpendicularly thereto, said support plate (12) and said lateral uprights (13a, 13b) delimiting a central space that is able to receive a container (20) containing waste, - two manually actuable levers (14a, 14b), namely a left-hand lever (14a) fastened to the left-hand lateral upright (13a) so as to pivot about a left-hand pivot axis (Xa) and a right-hand lever (14b) fastened to the right-hand lateral upright (13b) so as to pivot about a right-hand pivot axis (Xb), said left-hand and right-hand pivot axes (Xa, Xb) being parallel and defining a plane (P1) parallel to a plane (P) defined by the support plate (12), - at least one push bar (15), at the lower end of which a compression plate (16) is fastened, said push bar (15) being connected to said left-hand lever (14a) and/or right-hand lever (14b) by way of at least one connecting means (17a, 17b) that is able to slide along said left-hand lever (14a) and/or right-hand lever (14b) and is configured to act on said push bar (15) under the action of said left-hand lever (14a) and/or right-hand lever (14b) so as to move it towards the ground or away from the ground, thus making it possible to move the compression plate (16) towards or away from the support plate (12) from an equilibrium position in which it rests on the waste to be compacted. |
