PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine that can delay deterioration of lubricating oil used for a period until a warming-up operation when a double tank type oil pan is provided.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 includes a first oil pan 41, a second oil pan 42, a solenoid valve 5 and a control section 6. Piping 71 of a pump 7 for pumping up lubricating oil Lo is inserted into the first oil pan 41 and the first oil pan forms a first tank P1. The second oil pan 42 forms a second tank P2 connected to the first tank P1 via a communication section 401. The solenoid valve 5 is arranged in the communication section 401 so as to seal the movement of the lubricating oil Lo between the first tank P1 and the second tank P2. The control section 6 opens the solenoid valve 5 when first cumulative lapsed time that is integrated time of operation time with the solenoid valve 5 closed exceeds first valve opening time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
