The invention relates to a trailer coupling for a motor vehicle (18), in particular a passenger motor vehicle, with a main holder (11a-11e) which is fittable or is fitted securely to the vehicle, and a coupling arm, at the free end of which a dome element (14) is arranged for the coupling of a trailer and which, in a use position (G), protrudes to the rear of the motor vehicle (18), wherein the coupling arm is fastenable releasably to the main holder (11a-11e) or is mounted movably between the use position (G) and a non-use position (N) moved towards the motor vehicle (18).
