Provided is a mode filtering optical fibre, wherein a cladding layer is composed of a substrate material (1), high-refraction index dielectric cylinders (2) and a high-refraction index dielectric ring (3), the high-refraction index dielectric cylinders (2) are periodically arranged in the low-refraction index substrate material (1), the high-refraction index dielectric ring (3) is located on the outer side of the low-refraction index substrate material (1) and the high-refraction index dielectric cylinders (2), and a fibre core (4) is located in the centre of the optical fibre, so that the high-refraction index dielectric cylinders (2) form a super-mode group which is coupled with the fibre core (4) mode, and the super-mode group obtains a high leakage loss via the high-refraction index ring, thus forming an effective mode filtering mechanism method to achieve selectively filtering modes of the optical fibre. A few-mode optical fibre merely transmits a single high order mode, and while filtering corresponding modes, other modes in the optical fibre can be maintained to be transmitted at low loss. |
